Visual Description
Amauromyza monfalconensis is a small dipteran insect. Based on observations of preserved specimens, the body exhibits the typical morphology of the family Agromyzidae, characterized by a compact, often dark-colored form. The wings are generally clear with distinct venation patterns typical of the genus Amauromyza. The head features prominent compound eyes and specialized mouthparts adapted for the feeding habits of the species.[1]
Biology and Ecology
Amauromyza monfalconensis (Strobl, 1909) is a recognized species within the family Agromyzidae.[2] It has been documented to interact with various plant species, specifically those in the genus Rumex, such as Rumex nivalis and Rumex pulcher, which serve as host plants.[3] The species is also included in regional checklists, such as the updated checklist of Iranian Agromyzidae.[4]
