Visual Description
Amauromyza lamii is a leaf-mining fly. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset show that the larvae create characteristic, winding, serpentine mines within the leaves of their host plants.[1] These mines appear as light-colored, translucent tracks on the leaf surface, often with visible dark frass (larval excrement) deposited in a broken or intermittent line along the center of the mine.[1]
Ecology
Amauromyza lamii (Kaltenbach, 1858) is a recognized species within the family Agromyzidae.[2] It has been documented visiting Ballota nigra (black horehound), a member of the Lamiaceae family.[3]
