Description
Amapeza is a genus of stilt-legged flies (family Micropezidae) described by S.A. Marshall in 2022. It is classified within the subfamily Taeniapterinae.[2] The genus was established to accommodate specific Neotropical micropezid species.[2]
Visual Description
Based on museum specimen images from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Amapeza exhibit the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of the family Micropezidae.[1] They possess notably long, thin legs and elongated antennae. The body coloration often includes dark, patterned markings on the thorax and abdomen, consistent with their placement in the Taeniapterinae.[1]
