The species Allopogon miles is a member of the family Asilidae, commonly known as robber flies. Morphological observations from available dataset imagery are limited due to technical constraints in accessing the source files. Allopogon miles was originally described by the entomologist Wiedemann in 1828 under the basionym Dasypogon miles.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Allopogon.[2]
