Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Allopiophila testacea exhibits the characteristic body plan of a small fly within the family Piophilidae.[1] The specimens display a generally slender, elongated body structure typical of the family. Taxonomic History
Allopiophila testacea was originally described by A.L. Melander in 1924 as Mycetaulus testacea.[2] The species is currently accepted as a member of the genus Allopiophila within the family Piophilidae.[2]
