Visual Description
Allopiophila flavipes is a small fly within the family Piophilidae. Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits a generally dark, sclerotized body typical of many piophilids. The legs show distinct coloration, with the species name flavipes (Latin for "yellow-footed") reflecting the characteristic pale or yellowish appearance of the tarsi and parts of the legs, which contrast with the darker body.[1]
