Based on observations of museum specimens, Allometopon flavum is a small fly characterized by a predominantly yellowish coloration, consistent with its specific epithet. The body exhibits a slender, typical clusiid form. Visible morphological traits include a distinct head structure with prominent eyes and a thorax that appears relatively smooth. The wings are clear and membranous, typical of the order Diptera.[1]
Allometopon flavum was described by C.G. Lamb in 1914. The species was formally published in the Transactions of the Linnean Society of London, Zoology as part of the results from the Percy Sladen Trust Expedition to the Indian Ocean.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the family Clusiidae.[3]
