Visual Description
Allohelea johannseni is a species of biting midge within the family Ceratopogonidae. As with other members of this family, individuals are typically small, delicate flies. Based on museum specimen records, the species exhibits the characteristic body plan of the family, including a compact thorax and slender legs.[1]
Classification and History
The species was originally described by W.W. Wirth in 1953 under the name Monohelea johannseni.[2] It is currently accepted as Allohelea johannseni.[2]
