Description
Allohelea is a genus of biting midges in the family Ceratopogonidae. The genus was established by Kieffer in 1917.[2] It is classified within the subfamily Ceratopogoninae and the tribe Ceratopogonini.[3]
Visual Description
Morphological studies of Allohelea species, such as Allohelea japonica, provide detailed anatomical data, including specific features of the head, thorax, legs, wings, and respiratory organs.[2] While specific morphological traits are documented in taxonomic literature, high-resolution visual inspection of the Allohelea specimens available in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset was not possible due to access restrictions.[1]
Ecology and Interactions
