Visual Description
Allograpta zophina is a species of hoverfly within the family Syrphidae. Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features typical of the genus Allograpta, including a slender, elongated abdomen often marked with distinct yellow or orange patterns against a darker background.[1] The head features large, prominent compound eyes, and the wings are typically clear and held flat over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
Classification and History
Allograpta zophina was described by Ximo Mengual in 2015.[2] It was originally described under the name Rhinoprosopa zophina.[2]
