Visual Description
Allograpta javana is a hoverfly characterized by a slender abdomen.[2] Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that the species exhibits typical syrphid features, including a distinct head and thorax structure.[1] The antennal sockets are separated by a long, slender scape, and both the scape and pedicel are ochre yellow. The flagellomere is elongated and broad, with a blackish upper surface.[2]
Distribution
Allograpta javana has a wide distribution. Within India, it has been recorded in Himachal Pradesh, Madras, and Mysore. Its broader global distribution encompasses the Australasian Region (including South Australia and the Solomon Islands), the Neotropical Region (Formosa), the Oriental Region (Borneo, Sri Lanka), the Pacific Region (Fiji), and the Palaearctic Region (China, Japan).[2]
