Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Allograpta insularis exhibits characteristic features of the genus Allograpta.[1] The species displays a slender, elongated body typical of many flower flies. The abdomen is marked with distinct, alternating yellow and black transverse bands. The thorax is generally dark with lighter lateral markings. The wings are clear and membranous, and the eyes are large, occupying a significant portion of the head.[1]
Allograpta insularis is a species of flower fly (family Syrphidae) described by F.C. Thompson in 1981.[2] It was formally published in his work, "The flower flies of the West Indies (Diptera: Syrphidae)."[2]
