Visual Description
Allograpta fuscotibialis is a hoverfly characterized by a slender, elongated abdomen typical of the genus Allograpta. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset show that the abdomen features distinct, alternating yellow and black transverse bands.[1] The thorax is generally dark, often with metallic or pollinose reflections, and the wings are clear and held flat over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
Ecology and Interactions
Allograpta fuscotibialis has been documented interacting with Stachys aethiopica (Lamiaceae).[2] Like other members of the family Syrphidae, it is likely to function as a pollinator, visiting flowers to feed on nectar and pollen.
