Visual Description
Allograpta falcata is a hoverfly characterized by a slender, elongated body typical of the genus. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that the abdomen features distinct, alternating yellow and black transverse bands, which are characteristic of many syrphids.[1] The wings are generally clear and held in a V-shape when at rest, a common posture for this family.[1]
Ecology and Distribution
Allograpta falcata is a species of hoverfly (family Syrphidae).[2] Research conducted in wheat fields in the North of Paraná State, Brazil, during the 2009 crop season identified A. falcata as one of 15 hoverfly species present in the area.[3] In this survey, it was a relatively uncommon species, with three individuals collected out of a total of 1,845 hoverfly specimens.[3]
