Allognosta platypus is a species of soldier fly within the family Stratiomyidae. While specific morphological details are difficult to resolve from the available dataset images, the genus Allognosta is generally characterized by features typical of the subfamily Beridinae.[1]
Allognosta platypus was described by M.T. James in 1969, based on specimens collected in the Philippine Islands during the Noona Dan Expedition.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Allognosta.[2]
