Visual Description
Allodiopsis praeformida is a species of fungus gnat within the family Mycetophilidae. Based on examination of museum specimen images from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits typical morphological characteristics of the family, including a slender, elongated body form and long, delicate legs.[1] Due to the nature of the available specimen imagery, finer diagnostic characters such as specific wing venation patterns or microscopic setal arrangements cannot be definitively resolved.
History and Classification
Allodiopsis praeformida was originally described by the entomologist H. Dziedzicki in 1910, under the basionym Rymosia praeformida.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Allodiopsis.[2]
