Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens, Allodia silvatica exhibits the characteristic morphology of a fungus gnat. The body is slender and elongated, typical of the family Mycetophilidae, with a distinct, small head and relatively long, thin legs. The thorax is arched, and the wings are clear with a venation pattern characteristic of the genus.[1]
Distribution and Ecology
Allodia silvatica (Landrock, 1912) was originally described as Brachycampta silvatica.[2] The species has been recorded in forest environments, such as the beech-fir forests of the Bieszczady Mountains in Poland, where specimens have been collected in September.[3]
