Visual Description
Allodia lugens is a small fly characteristic of the family Mycetophilidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits the typical slender, delicate body form of fungus gnats. The wings are clear and membranous, with characteristic venation patterns typical of the genus Allodia. The body coloration is generally brownish, consistent with many members of the family.[1]
General Information
Allodia lugens was originally described by Wiedemann in 1817 as Mycetophila lugens.[2] The genus Allodia is sub-cosmopolitan, with its highest species diversity found in the Holarctic region.[3]
