Visual Description
Allodia czernyi is a small fly characteristic of the family Mycetophilidae. Observations of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a slender, elongated body typical of fungus gnats.[1] The specimens exhibit long, thin legs and wings that extend beyond the posterior end of the abdomen. The thorax is robust and arched, while the abdomen is relatively narrow and cylindrical. The coloration is generally brownish, with subtle variations in tone across the thoracic and abdominal segments.[1]
Classification and History
Allodia czernyi was originally described by K. Landrock in 1912 under the basionym Brachycampta czernyi.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Allodia.[2]
