Visual Description
Allocotocera pulchella is a species of fungus gnat within the family Mycetophilidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, specimens exhibit the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of many mycetophilids.[1] The insects possess long, delicate legs and wings that are often held over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
Ecology and Distribution
Allocotocera pulchella (Curtis, 1837) is an accepted species name, originally described as Leia pulchella.[2] Faunistic studies conducted in the Roztoczański National Park in southeastern Poland between 1986 and 1990 recorded the presence of this species in fresh pine forests (Leucobryo-Pinetum).[3]
