Overview
Allochaeta is a genus of flies within the family Phoridae. It was described by the entomologist Thomas Borgmeier in 1924.[2]
Visual Description
The genus Allochaeta comprises members of the family Phoridae, commonly known as scuttle flies. While specific morphological traits for this genus are not detailed here, members of Phoridae are generally characterized by their small size, often humped thorax, and distinctive wing venation, where the costal vein is typically thickened and extends only to the middle of the wing, with the remaining veins being relatively weak.[1]
