Allobaccha triangulifera is a slender hoverfly characterized by a distinctly petiolate abdomen, which is narrow at the base and expands into a club-like shape at the posterior end. Observations of museum specimens indicate that the abdomen features a dark, elongated structure with a lighter, yellowish-orange band or marking on the clubbed portion. The thorax is dark, and the head possesses large, prominent compound eyes. The wings are clear and elongated, extending beyond the length of the abdomen. These morphological traits are consistent with specimens documented in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset.[1]
This species has been recorded in the Shivalik hill zone of Himachal Pradesh, India, specifically in the Kangra district (Thakurdwara and Bankhandi). It is considered endemic to the state of Himachal Pradesh.[2] The species exhibits intra-specific variation, particularly regarding leg coloration.[2]
