Visual Description
Allobaccha siphanticida is a hoverfly characterized by a slender, elongated body typical of many species within the tribe Bacchini. Observations from photographic records indicate that the abdomen is notably constricted at the base, often appearing petiolate. The body exhibits a dark coloration, with distinct, lighter-colored transverse bands or spots on the abdominal segments. The wings are generally clear and held flat over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
History and Classification
Allobaccha siphanticida was originally described by F.W. Terry in 1905 as Baccha siphanticida.[2] The species is currently accepted under the genus Allobaccha.[2]
