Allobaccha sinuata exhibits the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of the genus Allobaccha within the family Syrphidae. Observations of preserved specimens reveal a distinct, narrow "waist" at the base of the abdomen, which is a common feature in this group. The abdomen is elongated and often shows patterned markings, consistent with the hoverfly morphology.[1]
Allobaccha sinuata was originally described by Brunetti in 1929 under the name Baccha sinuata.[2] The species is currently accepted as Allobaccha sinuata (Brunetti, 1929).[2]
