Visual Description
Alliopsis fractiseta is a species of fly within the family Anthomyiidae. Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that, like other members of its family, it exhibits a typical muscoid fly body plan.[1] The specimens display a robust thorax and abdomen, with visible setation characteristic of the genus. Due to the nature of the available photographic records, finer morphological details such as specific wing venation patterns or the precise structure of the male genitalia—which are often diagnostic in this group—cannot be resolved.
Taxonomy and Classification
Alliopsis fractiseta was originally described by Paul Stein in 1908 under the name Chirosia fractiseta.[2] It is currently accepted as a valid species within the genus Alliopsis.[2]
