Visual Description
Allactoneura cincta is a fungus gnat within the family Mycetophilidae. Based on examination of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits characteristic dipteran morphology, including a slender body, elongated legs, and prominent wings typical of the family.[1] Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, specific diagnostic color patterns or fine setal arrangements are not readily resolved in these images.
Taxonomy and Classification
Allactoneura cincta was described by Meijere in 1907.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Allactoneura.[2]
Recent integrative taxonomic studies of Mycetophilidae in the Oriental region have highlighted the genus Allactoneura as part of a diverse, yet understudied, "dark taxon" group.[3]
