Visual Description
Aleucosia hemiteles is a member of the family Bombyliidae, commonly known as bee flies. The wings are often clear or have distinct patterns, and the body exhibits a dense covering of setae (hairs), which can vary in color, often appearing brownish or yellowish.[1]
Taxonomy and Classification
Aleucosia hemiteles was originally described by the entomologist Ignaz Rudolph Schiner in 1868 under the name Neuria hemiteles.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Aleucosia.[2]
