Visual Description
Agromyza rudbeckiana is a small fly characteristic of the family Agromyzidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that the species possesses a dark brown, subshining thorax and abdomen.[1] The legs are generally dark brown, though the apices of the femora and the bases of the tibiae may exhibit lighter, yellowish coloration.[2]
Morphology and Identification
The species was described as new to science by Lonsdale in 2018.[2] Diagnostic morphological traits include a wing length of approximately 2.8–2.9 mm in males and 2.9–3.4 mm in females.[2] The head features a brownish-orange base color, with antennae that are typically yellowish-orange, sometimes showing darker infuscation.[2] The chaetotaxy includes two orbital setae (ors) and three orbital setae (ori), with four dorsocentral setae that decrease in length anteriorly.[2]
