Visual Description
Based on observations of preserved specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Agromyza nigrociliata is a small fly typical of the family Agromyzidae.[1] The specimens exhibit a dark, generally blackish body coloration with characteristic wing venation and structure consistent with the genus Agromyza.[1]
Ecology and Biology
Agromyza nigrociliata is a species of leaf-mining fly.[2] The larvae are known to feed on various grasses (Poaceae), including species in the genera Agropyron and Arrhenatherum (e.g., Arrhenatherum elatius).[3]
History
The species was described by F. Hendel in 1931 in the work "59. Agromyzidae" within the series Die Fliegen der Palaearktischen Region.[4]
