Visual Description
Agromyza lithospermi is a small fly characteristic of the family Agromyzidae. Based on observations of museum specimens, the body is generally dark-colored, typical of many agromyzids. The wings are membranous and clear, with distinct venation patterns characteristic of the genus Agromyza. The head features prominent compound eyes and antennae typical of the order Diptera.[1]
Biology and Ecology
Agromyza lithospermi was described by K. A. Spencer in 1963.[2] The species is known to interact with plants of the genus Lithospermum (family Boraginaceae).[3] As a member of the Agromyzidae, it is likely a leaf-miner, as many species in the Agromyza rufipes group are known to feed on Boraginaceae.[2]
