Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Agromyza fusca exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Agromyzidae.[1] The specimens are small, dark-bodied flies with wings that are typically held folded over the abdomen. The thorax and abdomen are generally uniform in color, appearing dark brown to black. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, finer morphological details such as specific chaetotaxy (bristle patterns) or wing venation are not clearly resolvable in these images.[1]
Agromyza fusca was described by Kenneth A. Spencer in 1963.[2] The species was formally published in his work, "A synopsis of the Neotropical Agromyzidae," which appeared in the Transactions of the Royal Entomological Society of London.[2]
