Visual Description
Agromyza diversa is a small fly characteristic of the family Agromyzidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset show that the adult fly possesses a compact, dark-colored body with a distinct, rounded head and prominent compound eyes.[1] The wings are typically clear and membranous, held flat over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
Biology and Ecology
Agromyza diversa was described by C.W. Johnson in 1922.[2] As a member of the family Agromyzidae, it is part of a group commonly known as leafminers. The larvae of agromyzids typically feed within the tissues of plant leaves, creating characteristic mines as they consume the mesophyll without damaging the epidermis.[3]
