Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Agria housei exhibits the characteristic morphology of a sarcophagid fly.[1] The specimens display a robust, bristly body typical of the family. The thorax features distinct longitudinal dark stripes against a greyish background, and the abdomen shows a characteristic checkered or tessellated pattern of light and dark patches. Due to the nature of the museum specimen images, finer diagnostic characters such as specific setal arrangements or genitalia structure cannot be resolved.[1]
Biology and Ecology
Agria housei is a species of flesh fly (family Sarcophagidae). It was described by G.E. Shewell in 1971.[2]
Ecological data indicates that Agria housei has been recorded as a parasitoid of the spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae).[3]
