Visual Description
Aglaomyia gatineau is a fungus gnat within the family Mycetophilidae. Based on observations of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits typical dipteran morphology with slender, elongated legs and delicate, membranous wings.[1] The body is generally small, with a thorax that appears robust relative to the abdomen. The coloration of the specimens is predominantly brownish, consistent with many members of the family.[1]
Biology and Classification
Aglaomyia gatineau was described by J.R. Vockeroth in 1980.[2] The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Aglaomyia.[2]
