Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Aglaomyia exhibit characteristic features of fungus gnats.[1] These insects typically display a slender, elongated body form typical of the family Mycetophilidae.[1] Visible structures include long, delicate legs and wings that are often held over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
General Information
Aglaomyia is a genus of fungus gnats within the family Mycetophilidae.[2] The genus was described by Vockeroth in 1980.[2] Research into fossil records has identified the species Aglaomyia curvipetiolata (Meunier, 1904) as being represented in Baltic amber, where it is classified as a new combination.[3]
