A laboratory study reports two secondary metabolites isolated from Agelas conifera: bromoageliferin and dibromoageliferin.[3]
- In PC12 cells, both compounds reduce voltage-dependent (voltage-operated) calcium entry.
- Half-maximal effects (reported as Hill fits): ~6.61 mM for bromoageliferin and ~4.44 mM for dibromoageliferin.[3]
- The study reports no inhibition of store-operated calcium entry under the tested conditions, supporting selectivity for voltage-operated calcium entry rather than capacitative/store-operated entry.[3]
