Visual Description
Members of Agelas (family Agelasidae) are marine demosponges that commonly form conspicuous, externally visible sponge bodies such as rounded lobes, tubes, or ear-like expansions, often with a relatively smooth external surface in underwater photographs and specimen images. Color in observed records ranges from pale to orange-brown tones across different Agelas species (e.g., A. sventres, A. clathrodes, and others).
