Visual Description
Agathomyia unicolor is a small fly characteristic of the family Platypezidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset show that the species possesses a compact, robust body form typical of flat-footed flies. The thorax and abdomen are generally dark in coloration, often appearing black or dark brown. The wings are relatively large in proportion to the body, with clear or slightly smoky venation. The legs are distinct, with the hind tarsi often showing the characteristic flattened appearance associated with the family.[1]
Ecology and Status
Agathomyia unicolor is an uncommon species found in Europe.[2] The larvae of this species are known to develop within the fungus Bjerkandera adusta.[2]
In terms of conservation, the species is considered vulnerable (VU) in the Czech Republic, and records of its occurrence in regions such as Slovakia are infrequent.[2]
