Visual Description
Agathomyia divergens is a small fly characteristic of the family Platypezidae. Observations of museum specimens reveal a compact body form typical of flat-footed flies. The specimens exhibit a dark, sclerotized thorax and abdomen. The wings are relatively large in proportion to the body, with a clear, membranous texture and distinct venation patterns characteristic of the genus.[1]
General Information
Agathomyia divergens was originally described by Hermann Loew in 1866 as Callomyia divergens. It is an accepted species within the genus Agathomyia.[2]
