Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens, Agathomyia brooksi exhibits the characteristic morphology of the family Platypezidae, commonly known as flat-footed flies.[1] The specimens display a compact, robust body form typical of the genus. Visible traits include a distinct, rounded head with large, prominent eyes and a thorax that appears relatively broad in proportion to the abdomen. The wings are well-developed and membranous, extending beyond the tip of the abdomen. The legs, particularly the tarsi, show the flattened appearance that gives the family its common name.[1]
General Information
Agathomyia brooksi is a species of fly in the family Platypezidae. It was described by C.W. Johnson in 1923, in his review of the Platypezidae of eastern North America.[2]
