Visual Description
Agapophytus yeatesi exhibits the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of many stiletto flies (Therevidae). Observations from available imagery indicate a body coloration featuring a mix of dark and lighter, often yellowish or brownish, tones. The wings are generally clear or slightly tinted and held in a characteristic position along the abdomen when at rest. The head is relatively large with prominent compound eyes.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Agapophytus yeatesi was described by Winterton and Irwin in 2001 as part of their phylogenetic revision of the genus Agapophytus.[2] It is a recognized species within the family Therevidae, commonly known as stiletto flies.[2]
