Visual Description
Agapophytus septentrionalis is a member of the family Therevidae, commonly known as stiletto flies. Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a slender, elongated body form characteristic of many therevids.[1] The flies exhibit a distinct, tapered abdomen and relatively long, slender legs. The wings are typically clear or lightly patterned, held in a characteristic position when at rest. The head features prominent, large compound eyes that occupy a significant portion of the head surface.[1]
General Information
Agapophytus septentrionalis was described by Winterton and Irwin in 2001.[2] It is a recognized species within the genus Agapophytus, which is part of the subfamily Agapophytinae.[2]
