Visual Description
Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Agadasys flies exhibit distinct morphological features. The wings are characterized by a prominent, dark, reticulated or banded pattern against a lighter background. The head features large, reddish-brown compound eyes. The body appears to be covered in fine, light-colored setae (hairs).[1]
General Information
Agadasys is a genus of flies within the family Platystomatidae. It was described by Andrew E. Whittington in 2000 as part of a revision of the Oriental genera of the subfamily Plastotephritinae.[2]
