Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Afrosepsis lineata exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Sepsidae, with a slender, ant-like appearance.[1] The specimens display a dark, sclerotized cuticle. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, finer morphological details such as specific chaetotaxy or wing venation patterns are not clearly resolvable in the available imagery.[1]
Afrosepsis lineata was described by A.L. Ozerov in 1999.[2] The species is known from the Afrotropical realm, specifically recorded in Angola.[3] The holotype specimen is deposited at the Natural History Museum, London.[3]
