Afroleptomydas braunsi is a species of fly within the family Mydidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit a slender, elongated body form characteristic of many mydid flies.[1] The specimens display distinct, elongated wings and a prominent head structure with large, well-developed eyes.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Afroleptomydas braunsi was described by the entomologist Mario Bezzi in 1924.[2] It is recognized as an endemic insect of South Africa.[3] The species was originally described under the name Leptomydas braunsi.[2]
