The thorax and abdomen often show patterns of coloration, including dark and lighter, possibly yellowish or brownish, markings. The wings are typically held over the abdomen when at rest.
Taxonomic Status
Afrodontomyia impressa (Curran, 1928) is recognized as an accepted species in some databases.[2] However, recent taxonomic revisions have suggested that Odontomyia impressa Curran, 1928 is a junior synonym of Afrodontomyia gigas (Brunetti, 1926).[3]
