Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens, Aenigmatopoeus exhibits the characteristic body plan of the family Phoridae. The specimens display a compact, humpbacked thorax typical of the family, with a relatively small head positioned low on the thorax. The wings are well-developed, showing the characteristic reduced venation pattern often found in phorids, with thickened costal veins. The body coloration is generally dark, ranging from brown to black, consistent with many members of the family.[1]

Aenigmatopoeus is a genus of flies within the family Phoridae, formally described by Schmitz in 1914.[2]
