Ecology and Feeding Behavior
Aedes thibaulti is known to be an opportunistic feeder, obtaining blood meals from both avian and mammalian hosts.[2] Research conducted at eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV) foci in Connecticut demonstrated that the species is abundant and feeds on both host classes, with a significantly higher number of specimens identified as having fed on mammalian hosts compared to avian hosts.[2] Despite its opportunistic feeding habits, its role as a potential "bridge vector" for EEEV remains uncertain due to a lack of definitive information regarding its viral competency.[2]
