Based on observations of museum specimens, Aedes silvestris exhibits the characteristic morphology of a mosquito within the family Culicidae. The specimens display a slender body structure typical of the genus Aedes, with elongated legs and narrow, veined wings. The coloration is generally muted, consistent with preserved insect specimens.[1]
Aedes silvestris was described by the entomologist N.V. Dobrotworsky in 1960.[2] The species was later the subject of taxonomic clarification regarding its nomenclature, specifically concerning its relationship to Aedes waterhousei.[2]
