Aedes rossicus is a mosquito species. Based on observations of museum specimens, the adult form exhibits characteristic culicid morphology, including a slender body, long, thin legs, and a pair of wings. The thorax and abdomen display patterns of scales typical of the genus Aedes.[1]
Aedes rossicus was described by Dolbeškin, Goritskaya, and Mitrofanova in 1930.[2] It is recognized as an accepted species within the genus Aedes.[3]
In a study conducted in Eastern Slovakia between May and August 2012, 50 individuals of A. rossicus were screened for the presence of Dirofilaria spp. microfilariae using PCR assays. The study did not report the detection of Dirofilaria DNA in this species.[4]
